A Legendary Career Spanning Decades
Born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Govardhan Asrani’s journey began at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), where he was a gold medallist. He became a frequent collaborator of director Hrishikesh Mukherjee in the 1970s, delivering memorable performances in films like Bawarchi, Chupke Chupke, and Abhimaan.
While comedy was his forte, Asrani showcased incredible versatility. He played the lead in Chala Murari Hero Banne and explored various character roles in over 350 films. He remained a sought-after actor for decades, delighting audiences in modern blockbusters like Hulchul, Dhamaal, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and the Golmaal series.
