Paul Rodgers Teases Bad Company Performance at Rock Hall Induction
Legendary rock vocalist Paul Rodgers has sparked excitement among fans by suggesting Bad Company may perform at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony later this year. The band, responsible for classics like “Feel Like Makin’ Love” and “Can’t Get Enough,” has been a fan-favorite for induction—and Rodgers’ comments hint their time may finally come.
Why Bad Company’s Induction Is Overdue
Formed in 1973, Bad Company brought together rock icons:
– Paul Rodgers (Free)
– Mick Ralphs (Mott the Hoople)
– Simon Kirke (Free)
– Boz Burrell (King Crimson)
Their self-titled debut album went 5x platinum, yet the Rock Hall has repeatedly overlooked them. Rodgers, in a Classic Rock Magazine interview, said:
“We’ve been nominated before, and it would be an honor. If we get the call, we’d definitely perform—the band is in great shape, and the music still resonates.”
Rock Hall’s Controversial History with Rock Bands
The Hall of Fame has faced backlash for delaying inductions of rock legends (e.g., Deep Purple, Motörhead). Bad Company’s exclusion has been particularly baffling, given their influence on 70s rock and beyond.
Rodgers acknowledged mixed feelings:
“The Hall is great, but fan connection matters most. Still, it’d be nice to honor Boz [Burrell, who died in 2006] and the band’s legacy.”
Could Fans See a Reunion Performance?
If inducted, a Bad Company performance would be a ceremony highlight. Rodgers, 74, remains a powerhouse vocalist, and surviving members (Ralphs, Kirke) could reunite—possibly with a guest bassist.
Fans are already celebrating online:
“Bad Company not being in the Rock Hall is a crime. If they play ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Fantasy,’ I might cry!” – @ClassicRockFan
When Will We Know?
The 2024 inductees will be announced in the coming months, with the ceremony likely in October/November. A Bad Company induction and performance would be a historic Rock Hall moment.
Rodgers and fans are hopeful—will 2024 finally be their year?
