Mumbai – Legendary actor Dharmendra, Bollywood’s original ‘He-Man’, was hospitalised in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital over the weekend, causing a wave of concern among fans. The 86-year-old superstar is now stable and recovering well after what his family has described as a brief health scare.
Why Was Dharmendra Hospitalised?
Initial reports of the veteran actor being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) sparked anxiety online. However, sources close to the family have clarified the situation. Dharmendra was hospitalised due to a significant muscle pull in his back, an injury sustained during a recent film shoot.
After being kept under observation in the ICU for a few days as a precautionary measure, he has since been moved to a general ward. He is reportedly responding well to treatment and is on the path to recovery.
‘I Have Learned My Lesson’: A Message from Dharmendra
Putting an end to speculation, the actor himself shared a heartfelt video on his official Twitter account to reassure his followers. Looking slightly frail but in good spirits, he explained the situation directly.
“Friends, don’t overdo things,” he advised. “I did it and suffered a big muscle pull at the back. So I had to go to the hospital. It was difficult for the last four days. Anyway, I’m back with your good wishes and His blessings. So don’t worry.” He humbly added, “I have learned my lesson.”
The video was met with a collective sigh of relief and an outpouring of love from fans and industry colleagues, all wishing him a speedy recovery.
The Enduring Legacy of Bollywood’s ‘Garam Dharam’
For over six decades, Dharmendra has been an institution in Indian cinema. From his iconic action roles in films like Dharam Veer to his masterful comic timing in Chupke Chupke and his unforgettable portrayal of Veeru in Sholay, his versatility has captivated generations.
Even at 86, the actor’s passion for his craft remains strong. The back injury reportedly occurred while he was actively shooting for Karan Johar’s upcoming film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which co-stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi.
As the nation prays for his swift return to health, his family, including sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, have been by his side and have thanked everyone for their prayers. The He-Man is on the mend and is expected to be discharged soon.
