Shocking Fake Acid Attack Plot Uncovered in Delhi
New Delhi – In a twist that seems straight out of a crime thriller, Delhi Police exposed a fabricated acid attack orchestrated by a father and his teenage daughter to frame an innocent man. The incident, initially reported as a brutal chemical assault, turned out to be a revenge plot linked to a prior rape complaint.
The Alleged Attack & Police Investigation
An 18-year-old woman in Outer Delhi called police, claiming a man threw a chemical substance on her face before escaping. Given India’s history of acid attacks, authorities immediately launched an investigation.
However, key discrepancies emerged:
– CCTV footage showed no attacker—only the woman walking alone before clutching her face.
– Forensic tests revealed the “acid” was a harmless mix of Dettol and mustard oil.
– Minor injuries on her face were self-inflicted.
The Revenge Motive Exposed
Under interrogation, the duo confessed. The father, 37, had been arrested earlier for allegedly raping the man’s wife and was out on bail. To pressure her into dropping the case, they plotted to frame her husband in a non-bailable acid attack charge.
DCP Jimmy Chiram (Outer Delhi) stated: “This was a premeditated conspiracy. They manipulated evidence but were caught.”
Legal Action & Broader Implications
The father and daughter were arrested under:
– IPC Section 182 (false information to harm another)
– IPC Section 120B (criminal conspiracy)
This case underscores the need for meticulous investigations to distinguish real crimes from fabricated ones, even in sensitive scenarios like gender-based violence.
