Haryana Cop Beaten to Death in Jhajjar
A 57-year-old Head Constable, on the verge of retirement, was brutally beaten to death with bricks outside his home in Haryana’s Jhajjar district. The victim, Ranbir Singh, was allegedly attacked by his neighbour and his family following a long-standing dispute. The shocking incident occurred in Asaudha village early Tuesday morning, sending waves of grief through his community and the state police force.
A Dedicated Career Cut Tragically Short
Head Constable Ranbir Singh was a respected officer posted at the Rohtak Cyber Crime police station. With only three months left until his well-deserved retirement, he had dedicated decades of his life to service. His plans for a peaceful life after hanging up his uniform were horrifically cut short.
Family members found Singh with severe head injuries and rushed him to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak. Unfortunately, he was declared brought dead by doctors at the hospital.
What Led to the Brutal Attack?
According to the preliminary investigation, the fatal assault stemmed from a simmering dispute over a common wall shared between the victim’s and the accused’s houses. The disagreement allegedly escalated into a violent confrontation when Ranbir Singh stepped out of his house. The assailants reportedly ambushed him, using bricks to inflict fatal blows to his head.
This incident highlights a disturbing trend where minor civil disputes escalate into senseless violence with devastating consequences.
Police Launch Manhunt for Absconding Accused
The Jhajjar police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) and have launched a large-scale manhunt. The main accused has been identified as the victim’s neighbour, Vikram, along with his brother, mother, and wife. All four are currently absconding.
“An attack on one of our own, especially in this brutal manner, is an attack on the entire system,” a senior police official stated. “Multiple teams have been formed to conduct raids and apprehend the accused. We will not rest until justice is served for Head Constable Ranbir Singh.”
The police fraternity is in mourning over the loss of a colleague who was killed not in the line of duty, but in a lawless act of violence at his own doorstep. As the search for the perpetrators continues, the family of Ranbir Singh is left to grapple with an unthinkable loss just as he was about to begin his golden years.
