India Rejects Pak PM’s Kashmir Remarks as “Predictable Tactic”
India has sharply criticized Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent comments on Kashmir, calling them a diversionary tactic to mask Islamabad’s internal political crisis. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) accused Pakistan of using anti-India rhetoric to deflect attention from its domestic instability.
Pakistan’s Allegations and India’s Firm Response
Addressing the National Assembly last week, PM Sharif accused India of “oppression” in Jammu and Kashmir, urging international intervention. He also criticized India’s 2019 abrogation of Article 370, calling it a breach of UN resolutions.
India swiftly dismissed the remarks. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated: “Pakistan’s leadership habitually blames India to hide its governance failures. These statements are neither new nor credible—just a desperate distraction from their internal chaos.”
Domestic Turmoil in Pakistan Fuels Anti-India Rhetoric
Analysts suggest Sharif’s comments coincide with escalating political tensions in Pakistan. The military’s influence remains strong, while former PM Imran Khan’s imprisonment and crackdowns on his party, PTI, have fueled accusations of an “establishment-backed power grab.”
“Pakistan consistently uses Kashmir as a distraction during crises—economic meltdowns, military interference, or political infighting,” said Dr. Sushant Singh of the Centre for Policy Research. “This pattern is well-documented.”
India’s Diplomatic Stance on Kashmir
New Delhi maintains that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, dismissing Pakistan’s claims. Since 2019, India has highlighted development in the region, contrasting it with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), where reports cite neglect and rights abuses.
A senior Indian official told NextMinuteNews: “Pakistan is a failing state with a history of terrorism. The world sees through their hypocrisy.”
Pakistan’s Failing Global Narrative
Despite efforts to internationalize Kashmir, Pakistan has gained little traction. Major powers like the U.S. and EU prioritize ties with India, while even China avoids strong public stances on the issue.
“Pakistan’s isolation reflects its self-inflicted instability,” said strategist Praveen Swami. “Its support for extremism and refusal to reform undermine credibility.”
What’s Next?
With India’s elections nearing, experts warn Pakistan may escalate rhetoric. However, New Delhi remains focused on strategic restraint, economic growth, and global partnerships.
“Pakistan’s provocations won’t derail India’s progress,” said ex-diplomat Rajiv Bhatia. “Our priorities are clear.”
As Islamabad battles economic and political crises, its reliance on anti-India rhetoric appears increasingly desperate. India’s message is unequivocal: Pakistan’s chaos won’t dictate New Delhi’s agenda.
