10 Dead in Jaipur Dumper Truck Accident: What Happened?
A speeding dumper truck rammed into multiple vehicles in Jaipur’s Jhotwara area late Tuesday, killing at least 10 people and injuring several others. The overloaded truck lost control on a busy highway, crushing cars, bikes, and an auto-rickshaw in one of the deadliest road accidents in Rajasthan this year.
Eyewitness Accounts of the Collision
Witnesses reported the truck was moving at dangerously high speed before it overturned near a sharp turn. The vehicle first struck a scooty, killing the rider instantly, then plowed into three cars and two motorcycles. The impact mangled vehicles, trapping victims inside.
“Bystanders rushed to help, but many couldn’t be saved,” said a local shopkeeper. Among the dead were two children and three women.
Rescue Operations & Driver Arrested
Police and NDRF teams faced delays due to traffic chaos but managed to pull survivors from the wreckage. The truck driver fled but was later caught.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava stated, “The truck was overloaded, and the driver may have been drowsy. A case has been filed.”
Road Safety Failures in Rajasthan
The tragedy has sparked outrage over poor road safety measures in Jaipur, where speeding trucks frequently cause fatalities. Locals demand stricter enforcement of speed limits and weight checks.
Victims’ Families & Government Response
Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma announced ₹5 lakh compensation for each victim’s family. Opposition leaders criticized the government for inaction on highway safety reforms.
Will This Tragedy Bring Change?
Experts call for speed governors, better highway monitoring, and harsher penalties for reckless driving. Meanwhile, grieving families await justice.
