Karnataka is doubling down on its ambition to become India’s aerospace and defence powerhouse. The state government has unveiled plans for five cutting-edge Aerospace & Defence Parks, targeting global manufacturers, boosting indigenous production, and generating over 100,000 skilled jobs. This aligns with India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ missions, aiming to reduce defence imports and foster innovation.
Why Karnataka for Aerospace & Defence?
Karnataka is already India’s aerospace hub, hosting giants like HAL, BEL, and ISRO, along with 65% of the country’s aerospace-related companies. Bengaluru, dubbed the “Silicon Valley of Aerospace,” leads in R&D, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul), and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) operations.
The new policy expands this ecosystem to Tier-2 cities—Tumakuru, Mysuru, Belagavi, and Dharwad—to ease urban congestion and spur regional growth.
