The Hindi film industry said an emotional farewell to legendary actor Dharmendra Deol, fondly called Bollywood’s ‘He-Man,’ as stars, family, and fans gathered for his last rites in Mumbai. The Sholay star, 88, passed away after a prolonged illness and was cremated with full honors at Santacruz Crematorium. His daughter Esha Deol broke down in tears, while industry icons Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan paid their respects.
A Legend’s Final Journey: Fans & Family Mourn
Dharmendra, known for his rugged charm and blockbusters like Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Dharam Veer, had been unwell for some time. His death marks the end of an era in Indian cinema, closing a career spanning 250+ films.
Thousands of fans lined the streets during the funeral procession, holding posters of the star and chanting his iconic dialogues. Daughter Esha Deol was inconsolable, clinging to her mother Hema Malini. “He was our pillar of strength,” she said tearfully. Hema Malini, along with sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, performed the last rites.
Bollywood Stars Pay Emotional Tributes
Amitabh Bachchan, who shared an iconic Sholay partnership with Dharmendra, arrived with his family to console the Deols. “He was fearless—both on and off-screen,” Big B said.
Salman Khan, who idolized Dharmendra for his action-hero roles, touched the veteran’s feet and said, “There will never be another like him.” Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Ranveer Singh also sent floral tributes.
Dharmendra’s Unmatched Legacy
From a small Punjab village to Bollywood stardom, Dharmendra’s journey was legendary. His dialogue “Tera kya hoga Kaalia?” remains iconic. Beyond action roles, he was a National Award-winning actor (Satyakam, Chupke Chupke) and a prolific producer.
